CUSTOM VIDEO-PLAYBACK INTERFACE · KOLDING DESIGN SCHOOL / DANFOSS UNIVERSE
WHEN THE VIDEO PLAYER IS PART OF THE EXPERIENCE
ZoomPlayer was a bespoke video-playback system developed in collaboration with Brian “Mogge” Mogensen, Claus Bjerre Jacobsen, Ole Prinds and Mads Mosbæk Petersen for a specific physical setting, rather than a conventional media player with menus, timelines and a mouse cursor. The interface, screen, camera and hardware were conceived as one station for a particular experience.
The project combined Max/MSP, Cinema 4D, sound and electronics to develop the visual behaviour and control logic. The central design question was not simply how to play a file, but how timing, response and physical presence could shape the audience’s encounter with moving image.
