MAKING TELEPHONE SIGNALS VISIBLE

A telephone call feels immediate, but it depends on a hidden system of connections, signals and people. For TID Museum, I translated that invisible infrastructure into a physical installation visitors could operate directly.

Physical choices set light, sound and visible connections in motion, allowing visitors to follow the route of a signal with their hands, eyes and ears. Rather than explaining the history of the telephone from a distance, the installation lets its logic be tested as a sequence of actions and responses.

I designed the physical interaction, programmed the system and built the sound and electronics layer. Arduino connected the inputs to NeoPixel light feedback and audio playback, creating one coherent installation rather than separate hardware and media elements.
