ACCESSIBLE ARDUINO ROBOTICS WORKSHOP · MAKERCITY FESTIVAL, ODENSE

FROM FAMILIAR RC CARS TO SELF-GUIDING ROBOTS

RC Hack was an accessible Arduino robotics workshop concept co-developed with programmer and maker Søren Poulsen for MakerCity Festival. It began with ordinary remote-controlled cars—familiar objects that made autonomous robotics immediately approachable.

Working in groups, three school classes dismantled the cars, fitted Arduino boards and ultrasonic sensors, and programmed them to navigate independently. Every group got its own vehicle moving and finding its way through the test area.

The project was designed as a low-threshold entry into physical computing rather than as a finished robot product. By connecting familiar toys with sensors, code and experimentation, the format made it possible to build a working robot in a short, hands-on setting.
