KLIMAX DENDROCHRONOLOGY

INTERACTIVE MUSEUM INSTALLATION · 2009

CLIENT: ROSKILDE MUSEUMS

A tactile timeline inside a tree

Created for KlimaX at Roskilde Museums, this installation used a tree cross-section as a physical timeline. Metal contact points embedded in the wood let visitors select moments in time; related stories, images and archival material appeared in a digital scrapbook on screen.

I designed the interaction between the physical tree slice and the screen-based content, and built the prototype’s electronics. The system connected a tangible interface to visual storytelling, turning dendrochronology—the reading of tree rings—into a navigable historical experience.
