A hedge that answers with light and praise
Hyldesthækken (The Tribute Hedge) was an interactive public installation created with Grafikjuice for Kulturens Døgn in Odense. When people passed the hedge, eight LED light boxes responded with rainbow animations while speakers played words of praise and acknowledgement.
The project began as a micro:bit prototype. I then engineered the final Arduino system, in which the eight modules communicate with each other: activating one box fades light into the neighbouring modules and makes the hedge behave as one connected public instrument.
My role covered the complete physical-digital system: I designed the laser-cut light boxes, built all electronics and embedded control, and wrote the code for LED animation, triggering, sound playback and communication between the modules.
